The Larson Group is currently recruiting a Lead Developer / Senior Developer / Development Manager for an established distribution business based in Leeds. Our client is looking for a confident and experienced individual to take charge of a small team of developers and lead them in a variety of projects and responsibilities.

This is a great role for an experienced developer looking to move into a managerial / supervisory role but still wishes to be hands on and keep their skill set up-to-date and current.

Purpose of the Role

  • To provide support and a professional service to clients and users alike
  • To develop, configure and administer software code within a defined development environment comprising technology such as iReports, SSrS, SSiS, TFS, Octopus and SQL
  • To support the projects team by taking a technical lead and managing software deliverables
  • To develop and maintain structured clean reusable code with supporting documentation
  • To use and correctly follow the rules for software development and deployment such as source code control, testing and release building. (Maintain standards compliance)
  • To manage, lead and train the Development team on a daily basis ensuring they are fully utilized and follow the above best practice
  • Time recording and management on Project Management tool including staff

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing expert technical support for bespoke mission critical services
  • Executing live changes to data and software in a controlled and authorised manner
  • Working through support and project tickets allocated to the Development team via the internal ticketing system and making sure that any bug fixes are tested and correctly applied
  • Designing, coding and debugging applications and integrations
  • Supporting the overall delivery of projects to ensure that they are delivered on time and are aligned with the priorities of the business
  • Be the main development contact for any development issues that arise
  • Supporting e-Commerce related activities such as the development of and integration with APIs
  • Taking on the role of ensuring that requirements gathering from the users and business systems are enough to allow for a successful development engagement
  • Providing day to day maintenance and data fixes to software errors
  • Mentoring and training Development colleagues

Person Specification

  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participates in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations
  • Effective communication skills for dealing with diverse users/clients and team
  • Knowledge and up-to-date documentation of full software development lifecycle
  • Experience of dealing with databases with high record counts, data migration
  • Proven and relevant working experience in a busy, client focused organisation
